RE: Prosuite 2000i problems

Guys:
Just to put a slightly different spin on this stability issue I will relate
my experience. I agree fully about the uselessness of trying to run Ts2k
real time on Win95/98, it is just not going to work. I am running Ts2k
Build 563/590 on a PII 450, 256mb ram, NT4 SP4, with DTN satellite,
collecting 15k stock/index symbols. Nothing but Tradestation is running on
this computer. My stability improved dramatically with the switch from
Win98 to NT. However GS and TS Charting and TS Quote Monitor still crash
1-3 times per week and take everything with it. True you can close out non
responding apps with NT Task Manager but if GS crashes or one of the other
modules crashes everything goes. When this happens GS does not like it and
takes forever to restart. Sometimes it re-starts locked up and I have to
close it and restart it a second time. A very long time passes before I get
quotes on all 30 of the stocks I am usually watching. It takes me all day
to recover from the crash because I loose the values for Prev hence there is
no Net Change on quote pages or charts. These values do not fill in until
after the market closes. This sucks. Plus the gaps in the data are not
helpful. Today for example GS locked up when I merely clicked on the Symbol
Portfolio tab. I then spent the next 30 min trying to close everything out
and restart GS. I had to reboot and start GS twice before it worked. Now I
have prices on 6 symbols only. The rest will fill in slowly. This
particular slow quote recovery problem may be limited to DTN systems. In
addition when I call my broker or DTN I find that my intraday volume numbers
are understated 3-10%, hence Ts2k is dropping ticks somewhere even though I
have a high speed serial port running at 460800kbps. Also the volume
numbers on charts are different from Quote Monitor. None of these problems
exist if I run just DTN Chameleon hence the dropped ticks and inaccurate
volume problems are introduced by TS and not DTN. In short Ts2k is
dangerously unstable even under NT. I find it outrageous that Omega would
expose customers to problems of this sort. I have made every effort to
solicit help from Omega but they do not follow up on their promises for
assistance.
