Exactly, the crux of the problem - not so much as hatred for Israel
as much as their own wretched plight while the rulers have fun, thats
where the discontent arises. The mullahs use this discontent to play
their nefarious game. They have done it succesfully in Iran toppling the
Shah (who as compared to the remaining rulers was much more progressive)
and having tasted blood want more . You enable the populations of these
countries to live in democracies with personal freedom and liberties,
able to enjoy the economic benefit of their oil, two things will happen.
(1) they will not want to rock the boat and annoy their customers and
will behave, and (2) they will be busy jostling for powers within their
own countries and too preoccupied to make trouble anywhere else.

Many Americans are perhaps deceived by the focus in the US press on
other Arab nations that are extremely vocal in their opposition to
Israel and, accordingly, to its strong ally the US. Most of these
governments are, in fact, supportive of the US due to our protection
of
Kuwait against Iraq, but they are not democracies, and therefore
also
allow anti-American feelings among their (mostly down-trodden) people
to
continue bubbling up, diverting attention from their own regimes.
