I agree with below post.. also the oil companies are a big payer of taxes to
U.S. govt...  having said that so was the tobacco industry and finally the
pressure of the public was too great so that the politicians finally had to
make the tobacco industry the bad guy and pay... In my opinion the same will
be the case eventually with the pharmacutial industry as the FDA has passed
drugs for human consumption that have no right to be passed.... in essence
they are doing human testing.. enough of that for today.. point being .. the
oil companies do pay a tremendous amount of taxes to the govt. and so not
only is there the issue of importance of having enough oil for consumption
but it is also vital to our economic success as we all on this list know
that higher oil prices hurt profits and our economy can not stand that at
this fragile point.  So there is a balance point in the future where we will
see a slow cross over of still using fossil fuels as energy source but also
will see increased use in alternative energy source but it will not happen
until it is econonomically feasible... just the nature of the beast..
