It is NOT true that user programs are required to create workspace sets,
workspaces or charts, be they normal price charts or 2D or 3D complex charts
in TradeLab. All that is required to make a new workspace in TradeLab is to
click File | New Workspace. To create a price chart you click Create |
Price Chart (TLData). This opens up TLData where you easily select the
symbol to plot from an Explorer type tree (or manually type it in). You
then select the data compression. You then set the quantity or period of
data to plot. You can set the specific First and Last date from First and
Last date calendars or you can just insert the number of calendar days and
TLData with adjust the First and Last dates for you. Then click the Chart
button. This is easier and more intuitive than any other charting program.
This and specific procedures on how to do everything else in TradeLab in
documented in very complete, professionally written, Help files that contain
attractive graphics and are completely cross referenced. These files, which
are in the newest Windows *.chm format, total close to 2.5MB of very
thorough explanatory information. They are available for free downloading
at <http://www.tradelab.net/support/downloads.shtml>.
TradeLab comes with hundreds of standard and advanced methods that can be
used in user programs that each user creates to meet their own needs. There
are sample user programs supplied and it is easy to modify them to use the
hundreds of preprogrammed methods that come with TradeLab. Mark Brown's
comments are way out in left field. They sound more like what I saw in his
TraderWare program when I demoed it. Of course TraderWare is now dead.
I don't like to make personal comments but it appears that Mark can't read.
Several people have responded to his previous misrepresentation that
TradeLab will cost $2,000 per year. This is NOT true. If it is purchased
now from a TradeLab Associate, the net cost is $1,915 plus shipping. This
includes fixes to any and all bugs, if any, that anyone finds (I have been
looking for almost two years and every bug that I and other beta testers
have found has been fixed). It also includes a free upgrade to Version 2.0
that will include back-testing and optimization. You can obtain the rebate
at either Fred Siegel's or my web site.

SO IS VERSION 2.0 FOR SALE? NO!
JG> User programs have direct access to the TLData database.
Do you see what he says here? User programs? thats correct TL
requires you to write a VB program to make a workspace with charts.
Contained in that program you must specify all the parameters that
TS does for you automatically. Like the type of bar plot and the type
and color of subgraphs and every little detail must be programmed in
with the workspace code.
You do not simply pick and click an indicator or system to appear on a
chart. Unless you write a program and assign an icon to do that.
I am still unclear and wish a strait answer about if you buy it - and
the bug fixes come out and you are not wanting to belong to the pay
2000.00 per year club. Will a user be entitled to all the updates for
free? Or will they be held hostage until you fork over another
2000.00?
