What has happened to this list?
I log on and find dozens of annoying messages from lots of smart people on
close to irrelevant topics. Why are we wasting time on such trivia?
On Easy Language Math Precision
It is a well known fact that the precision of TradeStation 4.0 is not
sufficient for many calculations. Many functions use techniques to
calculate a next value from the previous value and over thousands of bars,
very significant errors can accumulate. This is a fact, easy to demonstrate
and not subject to opinion. It is one of the many problems we must work
around when using TradeStation. But at least we can use TradeStation 4.0
(at least for a few more months until the Y2K issue becomes intolerable).
On TraderWare and VB as a Language
I thought this was an Omega list. It is not clear to me why this discussion
appears on this list at all. I personally do not care much about the
potential features of some paper tiger product until I can use it for
productive work. Then, I will decide whether I like it better than whatever
else is available at the time. I personally hope that TraderWare,
NetTrader, TradeLab, TradeStation 2000, and TradeStation 4.0 with Y2K patch
all make it to that stage so I will have a choice. None of them are
anywhere close yet. Until then I would rather spend our time discussing how
to use what we now have more effectively.
