For some reason, the power editor can really mess up its links to files when I
use the RENAME command. Apparently, not all the links that need to updated
are. After a while I ask to open one file and a completely different file
opens up. My workaround has been to create a new user function with the new
name, copy the contents from the old into the new, and then delete the old user
function. Don't use the RENAME command.

If your linkages are so bad that a VERIFY ALL does not clean it up, I recommend
you transfer out all your added user functions into a separate directory, then
use the power editor to delete all these user functions (not the built-in
functions), then transfer back all the copied functions. This gave me a clean
start and I had no problems since.

BEWARE - there is risk in doing this. To be extra safe, you may want to
transfer everything into 2 different directories. Even then, there's still
risk.
