A very reasonable proposition except =how= do we go about
accomplishing the task proposed? I, for one, don't have any
code-writing background or experience. Frankly, I wouldn't
know where to begin. I have to rely on s/w vendors like
Omega to write code that will work whether it be next month
or ten years from now. If our pleas and concerns go
unanswered in this regard, and we can't produce our own Y2K
compliant s/w, I think we have precious few alternatives.
One that comes to mind is to look elsewhere; the other is to
raise the level of "noise". I'd welcome additional,
substantive, alternatives.

Best regards,
Jim
