Dan:

I echo the sentiments and comments made by Chris in the other e-mail.
I also went to a NLP guru in Dallas; who was recommended and trained by
the big guns out West. I forget the state where the originators reside. It
was
about as useful as any other type of therapy. I think NLP makes a lot of
unsubstantiated claims as it relates to therapy. Their ideas about modeling
is another argument. Remember; like Freud with Psychotherapy; often
a new type of therapy du jour comes to light as a way for these people to
justify and propigate a business. This is not to minimize or demean
Freud's theories; who is one of my intellectual heros. I think a lot of
self-discovery can eminate through a study and practice of classic Zen
Mediation. If you live in a large city consider joining a 12-Step Group.
Before 'poo pooing' this idea I recommend you read "A Skeptic's Guide To The
Twelve Steps" by Philip Z. I think you might be impressed with the logic
and clarity of his thinking. Large cities often also have great groups
based on the 12-Steps. For example; in Houston there is the Center For
Recovering Families; where co-dependent guru Bradshaw worked in his early
days. They have a great program and there were attornies, doctors, etc. who
had already spent a lot of money at the well know and expensive clinics
across the country.
All fwiw.....and just based on my personal experience.

Chas
