You correct that they operate on a thin line between profit or loss.
Without the ability to quickly move people in business and goods would
greatly hurt our economy to continue at the beat that we are use to. The
last days we have had to resort to transporting via truck or train which
takes more time. Clearing transactions in the securities business demands
payment by settlement and while there is electronic transfer there is still
the real clearing of the paper trail. Without planes to transport mail
rather you are talking US Post or UPS or FED EX ... all of business slows
down waiting for the pony or truck to delivery goods ..... checks, order
requests etc. Especially in this day of internet we are use to a instant
gratification world and all of sudden we are blasted back to days prior to
flying.............
