I totally agree. As one who used to dismiss technical analysis as mumbo
jumbo (and embrace fundamentals), I have long since flip-flopped. My
impression is that fundamentals drive the long-run, yet they can be the root
of very short-term blips. I always get a kick when I read in the Wallstreet
that company ABC's net fell by, say, 70%. I immediately go to the last
sentence in the article and find, quite often something similar to the
following, "ABC's shares rose 50 cents." In other words, the entire article
explains why net income was depressed, not why the stock rose. - Brian
