mentioned, the discussion degenerates into ego-driven "he said she said" debate
between various gurus? Each one tries to build themselves up while
discrediting the other. Could there be anything more commercial?

Hi Sean, (and everyone else who empathetically responded...some 15+ posts),
Thanks for your email!
Well, I guess I don't need to explain why I've been so invisible the last 3
weeks!
I was planning to email you (Sean) anyway and update you on whats been
happening.
After the data feed and software changeover, all was initially well.
Quote.com was easy to set up. DynaStore was easy to set up and also ran
well.
TS2K too showed initial promise. SP4b that is. SP4 had some difficulties.
Both ran Ed Moore's, Jurik's, and your indicators.
As a side note, Ed's Fib # is so poorly written that it affects CPU usage
dramatically.
We are working to get all of Ed's indicators updated.
And with the addition of 14 workspaces of 6-10 windows each (not a light
setup, I know) , TS2K's overhead completely swamped my P2 300mhz box with
4GBs and 384MB RAM.
So I thought, I'll buy a new CPU. I buy a P3 Dual 500mhz Dell with 13GB &
256MB RAM. Should be more than adequate no?
Well actually, no!
Even though TS2K WILL run in this new context, it still takes up between
30-80% of the processor cycles of the combined Dual processors ongoing, and
gives me poor mouse control, and frequent crashing. What is frequent? Well,
in my first 2 years with TS4 and the old CPU, I crashed perhaps twice
altogether. Now, I crash roughly twice a day. And this is a new CPU! No
fragmentation or other difficulties. It runs perfectly, otherwise!
I should qualify the twice a day comment. If I don't touch TS2K at all, I
don't crash. But like any user, I adjust views, and make small changes in
indicators to try other parameters etc, and any amount of this kind of
activity sooner or later brings the box down! I believe others have
documented this as well.
Additionally, every time I start it up, the windows within the workspaces
shift position slightly. On 3+ displays, as I have it currently running,
this means constantly adjusting the windows, resizing them, and wasting more
time!
This is unacceptable!
So why did I leave TS4. A more consistent silver hair color across my whole
head was the real reason. A dye would have been simpler, no?.
Actually, I thought the limitations of Quote.com data through DynaStore
(through the required serial ports) would be a data feed, speed limitation.
Perhaps not.
Could I go back? Yes. Others have noted success in that context doing what
we do. Except it seems from recent posts to Omega Digest & RT that TS4 Build
27 or whatever is yet problematic as well.
And Omega has been less than responsive. After perhaps 10-12 hours on the
phone with Omega over 3 weeks, with mostly novice tech people, I called them
Friday early AM and immediately asked to speak to a Senior Support Mgr. I
was told he was on the phone. They noted my record and told me he would call
me back as soon as he was free. No call yet. (And lets be realistic, there
is no call coming!)
So, my faith in Omega going forward is near shot! This is too bad. I
understand the difficulties in writing software, and maintaining it across
platforms and various OS's etc. But Omega tests even the most patient! There
poor programming is now legendary, and why stay on what I perceive is a
sinking ship?
I know there are other good packages out there. The aforementioned post
listed the best I've investigated so far! Are they perfect? Realistically I
doubt it! But I will find out this week whether they even have the
possibility of getting "our" indicators into their shells.
If so, then off I go! I'm not going to look back if things work in this new
direction.

I wanted to start this year and be focused on the markets. All I've been
focused on thus far, is software & data feed problems. No Y2K effect?
Depends who you ask I suppose. But Omega's problem goes way beyond the
millennium. Very frustrating!
