Such schems always fail since people are not good at following rules.

But what you want is very easy to do with any modern email client. I use
Eudora Pro but something similar works with all such email clients.

I create a "MailBox" for all of the email lists I am on and then set up
filters to transfer all mail from those lists to the proper Mailbox. It is
set up to look at the sender's address which does not depend upon anybody
remembering to put something in the subject line. For RealTraders it is:

   Sender: owner-realtraders@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx

So my hundred or so messages each day are automatically filed in the proper
mailboxes, leaving only the important stuff and junk mail in my "In" box.
