One thing that's not been mentioned with regard to speed on the Internet
is the speed of the source and path(s) of the data. I've found the
speed of connection/downloading can vary by a ratio of 20:1 with
the same source. It's not the speed of the modem, but how many outgoing/incoming
lines the source is handling. If the are a lot of subscribers connected
to the cource computer, that poor little cpu is working awful hard and
just slows down. Nothing you can do at the receiving end can speed
that up. Using a 28,800 bps modem , I've connected to Woorden Brothers
for my end of day download and have had it come to me at 100 bps and ant
2700 bps (bytes per second), even on the same download session. The
suggestion of a dual modem/line is a good one however. Dan C.

Hi Mark,</FONT></FONT> <FONT COLOR="#000000"><FONT SIZE=-1>
I use Net Boost, and it does help, a little., just don't expect miracles.
It doesn't do much for the connection speed, this is more a function of
the quality of the phone line. It does increase the rate of file
down load (Kb/sec), mine increased about 30%. The max. allowable
bps rate is 50k, even with a 56k modem per FCC regs. I consider 46-48
bps good for ware I live. If you consistently connect at speeds lower
than this, call your local phone company and ask them to check for noise
on the line. You may have pay for this service, but doing so improved
my connect speed 400%!!!!!</FONT></FONT> <FONT COLOR="#000000"><FONT SIZE=-1>
Finally, if you really want to speed up your connection, and have or can
install two phone lines to your computer, there are now available dual
modems. These use 2 lines at once, giving a max. speed of 100k and
an average speed of 90k bps. Diamond sells one, but there are others.
Prices are reasonable, but you will pay for the extra line and possibly
a second Internet account. Still, it's cheaper than ISDN.</FONT></FONT> <FONT COLOR="#000000"><FONT SIZE=-1>

I also rarely contribute to the realtrader forum, but I receive the digest
form and go through it regularly looking for interesting and helpful items. I
was interested in Bill's trading manual to ask him for more information
(price, etc) but not enough to order it. Probably "irk" is too strong a word,
but I am sometimes annoyed when traders ask a question of general interest to
the forum, and then say they should be contacted privately with the answer.
This leaves the rest of us out of the loop.
Steve, this item is obviously of general interest. Why not just post your
experiences with Bill's manual to the entire group?

And it irks me when people make accusations without basis. There has already
been a very good review of this manual on this list. And there are individual
traders using it that you can inquire about it from. Yes, you have a good
point about no money back guarantee, but I'm not sure that justifies your
attack.
As others have already done, interested individuals may contact me privately
for my personal experience with the manual.
