That sounds like it fits the bill for you so that's great. In business I used to take a tape backup home every day. Ok I had my girl friday take it home. This is really important if the building burns down and you have a few million in receivables out. Still pretty important to some traders if they lose all their data I guess, but not me.
I backup to a second drive with Casper so it is an image. If drive zero fails I just unplug it and plug drive1 into cable 0 and boot up and go. I don't use the image software except on the weekend. I do run a shadow copy each night of the important stuff including data to a ide drive. It is all automatic and keeps a week of backups on the little ide drive. There I'm like you as time doesn't matter as I'm asleep. Tapes are too slow. DVD is too small so I'm stuck with HDs.

I guess mileage differs, but I do use a little USB2.0 external laptop
HD for backups. Speed does not concern me as the backups are done
overnight anyway. But it's so nice to have all my important stuff
around (especially all my CD collection in mp3-s - but that's another
story) together in the same wallet with my Palm. I used to use dual
drives, but external USB drives are just so much nicer.
