Re: Re[2]: PCI or AGPHi,
I have tried the Matrox AGP / PCI combination and for me it worked pretty
well. I used both screens as one big desktop and the matrox cards run some
pretty high resolutions on analog screens .. 1920*1440 if I remember
correctly. I am currently using the PCI Matrox MMS card. This provides four
discreet graphics chips, one for each monitor. It is also available with a
TV tuner so you can have a TV window that actually looks pretty good. The
nice thing about the MMS cards is that one PCI card runs 4 screens and you
can add as many cards as your PC can hold. These cards also go to some
pretty high numbers resolution wise.
These cards run around $150-200 on ebay and sold for more than 600 new. They
are very stable and work great for tradestation level graphics.
Here is a link to one of these:

Its not as cheap as the two or three card combinations, but it only takes
one slot and the software that makes everything one big desktop works
flawlessly.
I havent tried the PCI AGP combination with different vendors cards but that
would seem like asking for trouble from the compatibility side.
Just my two cents.

WinXp can make them appear as one desktop.. that's what I have. Since both
of my card s are nVidia, I use nVidia's nView Desktop management thing. All
4 monitors act as one big desktop. It's possible to stretch apps accross
different monitors etc.
I think it works pretty much the same way for NT & win2k as well.
Check http://www.9xmedia.com/Pages/Products.html for some nice eyecandy.. I
didn't buy from them, but the site showcases nicely what's possible.
Thanks,
Abhijit
