Honest System Vendors?

PureBytes Links

Trading Reference Links

I have shopped and evaluated hundreds of systems over the last 8 years,
mostly for day trading S&P futures. Three systems vendors whose work I have
found to be credible and of value are listed in the table below. I know that
people here will accuse me of advertising for these guys, but I respect
their work and I think it's worthy of ackowledgement:

Vendor System	Backtesting Real-time Web Site

John Ehlers R-Mesa	to 1985 > 3 years www.mesasoftware.com
Jack Cahn Daybreaker	to 1998 > 3 years www.traderassist.com
John Clayburg	Cyclone	at least 1998	> 3 years www.clayburg.com

I would love to have a FAIR and MATURE conversation about these guys if
anyone wants to debate their merits and fallacies. I know a lot about
systems testing and evaluation, and I'm sure I could learn more by debating
the integrity of these systems. I accept that I may not know all of the
answers about the quality of commercial trading systems, but I'm very
interested in the subject.

I propose we try again to have a mature and intelligent discussion without
name-calling, attacking eachother's credibility, and flogging one another.
If you disagree with something, then try to state why, and try to present
your arguments as if you were an attorney making your case in court.
Remember that when you attack others personally, it almost always has a
negative impact on your ability to persuade others to your way of thinking.

I would like to see the anger and hostility of this group evolve into
something more productive and helpful. We CAN evolve this list to more than
a thug-fest. There are people reading this list who are seriously interested
in learning the TRUTHS about trading systems. Those of us who are learning,
cannot benefit unless we are able to see something that actually works. The
three systems listed above have worked IN REAL-TIME TRADING for at least
three years. There are other systems too, but these are good starting points
for a discussion. The code behind these systems is clearly discussed on the
web sites, and it's no secret to some here what each of them is based
on....and why they "work."

If you guys can learn to behave, then I'd be willing to invite each of these
vendors to come here and respond to INTELLIGENT questions. I'm sure they all
believe in their stuff, and that they'd be willing to engage in a friendly
debate as I have attempted to do. Let's try to clean up this room so that it
is more conducive to intelligent debate and discussion. Otherwise, we're
stuck with only the more closely-scrutinized and censored newsgroups.
