Greetings Jim,

If you want to allow the two computer access to the internet
simultaneously, get a router. The router also acts as a switch for
setting up a local area network (LAN) as well as a firewall from the
internet. First step is to physically plug the ethernet cable into
the appropriate slots in the back of your router. That's all you need
to do, physically.

Having a hardware firewall is HIGHLY recommended with broadband.
