Dear Jim,
The best workaround that I have found is to use TSPro. :) I have
collected quite a bit of data (more than 10GB)in my GS and when it needs
to rebuild files it takes more than 12 hours. My server got to be large
because I was using DTN template and not choosing to take the time to
select individual symbols.
The only solution I have found is to reinstall the GS and take care to
specify retaining the absolute minimum number of symbols/data. Perhaps
the solution is one system with tons of data for research and a trading
system that is streamlined. By the way, it is a lot easier to develop
intraday stock systems with the lightly filtered data in TSPro than with
all the bad ticks that would fool my stops with DTN/GS.
