Your original post raised an issue that, if left alone, some of us may not even
have noticed.  With the utility you suggested, at least now we know how the
hard drive is performing.

My question, and Jim's, is actually the next logical step since most W2K users
will be upgrading to SP2.

Per Jim's post, it appears the answer is not so straightforward.

I am indebted to you for raising the original issue and the fix.  It certainly
is not my intention that you are responsible for solving any and all followup
questions.  So please do not feel that way.

But I sure would like the ATA100 drive that I'll be getting to perform as
advertised.  Nothing more frustrating than for the OS to not be able to handle
it.  So I'm going to be doing some research on this and will post to the group
if I find some solution.
