RE: TS2000 sp6

Different people with different computer skills, different hardware and
software will experience problems. Ts2ki SP5 is quite stable on Win2k and
decent hardware. It never crashes for me with any datafeed I have used:
DTN sat, PCQuote, eSignal. However, folks who really stress the platform
are still experiencing bugs even with proper hardware and O/S.

But apart from stability issues, there are certainly problems with Ts2ki.
My main gripe is lack of comprehensive data compatibility. I was forced to
stop using DTN sat because GS would not parse the market stats out of DTN's
composite symbols, hence Adv/Dec data cannot be charted or used in formulas.
UMDS did this parsing perfectly so it certainly can be done. I made many
requests but Omega flat out refused to make this modification. In addition,
GS still does not support the DTN ethernet port which would eliminate all
serial port bandwidth problems for DTN users. Ts2ki is not directly
compatible with Qfeed, SP Comstock sat(promised but not delivered), or
Future Source. As to eSignal, Ts2ki connects and reads the data stream but
it will not read the data-on-demand history available on DBC's servers. GS
does not conviently import/export a wide variety of 3rd party EOD data and
intraday data. It still doesnt work with TC2000's current EOD data format,
also promised but not delivered.

There are also miles long lists of annoyances. For example the Data Window
columns cannot be made wider. As a result you cannot see the values of your
indicators clearly or completely since digits are cut off if they contain
large numbers. The automatic chart and indicator scaling is incredibly
dumb. My charts frequently contain scale values that are not logical round
numbers. Indicators that go above and below zero do not have a scale mark
at zero. Free charts on numerous websits do a much better job. Most
annoying it the scaling for volume or other indicators with large numbers
plotted in a subgraph. These days many stocks trade 8 or 9 digit volume
values. Ts2k puts a 9 digit number on the scale which makes it impossible
to see the whole number unless you give the scale half of the chart. Why
dont they use an abbreviation like 2.5B for billion or 15.5M for million
instead of 15500000. I could go on for a long time. My point is there is
certainly need for a Service Pack or two or three.....

I agree with other posters that Omega should charge for SP's if thats the
only way to get them out or spin off Ts2ki to a separate company or sell it
to a 3rd party rather than let it rot like Ts4.

Some characterize complaints like this as whining. But I agree with others
that exposure of all problems is constructive. I will admit though when I
was up on my roof unbolting my DTN dish because of incompatiblities with
Ts2ki I was whining quite a bit. :-)

Just an interesting observation . Given all the known and apparent bugs in
TS2K and the wide range of users. Why is their experience
with TS2K so different.
Not unlike others on this list I had multiple crashes on Win 98 but just
over
1 year ago I switched to W2K and TS has never crashed
running real time and trading everyday. Yet others with probably the same
hardware setup and datafeed would report problems. I'm
making no claims or excuses for the software just a question .
