CME has revamped its market data product offerings for the retail market
("non-professionals") in an attempt to align with the majority of
customer
needs while meeting our financial objectives as a for-profit company. We
recognize that some retail traders will see a large increase in market
data
fees if the new product offerings do not meet their particular needs; in
these cases, the fees will be slightly higher than they were in 1999 when
CME did not offer a non-professional rate.
Effective March 1st, CME will no longer offer a $10 real-time streaming
quotes pricing category for all contracts. Instead, we will offer a $10
one-minute snapshot pricing category for non-professionals which will
include all contracts traded at CME, both in the pits and electronically.
Also effective March 1st, CME will continue to offer the e-mini
NASDAQ-100,
e-mini S&P 500, and Fortune e-50 streaming real-time for free. However,
these products will be free to any subscriber for a 6-month period only;
after that, the fee will be $10/month. These are the only contracts that
will include the fee-waived feature.
Not all distributors of CME data plan to support these new product
offerings for non-professionals. We are working with our data
distributors to ensure that these offerings are being clearly
communicated
to the marketplace and will be implemented in order to serve their
customers.
Please let us know if you have any other comments as we are compiling all
customer feedback on these changes.
