I just installed TS2000i. Here are some quick comments:
1. The software does not overwrite my exisitng TS 4 directory. This is a
big relief. This means I can continue to use TS 4 till I get familiar
with TS2000i.
2. My computer has a 166 mhz processor with 64 MB RAM. The Software
seems to be working with reasonable speed.
3. My entire work in End of Day processing, so I am unable to say what
speeds are required for real time anlaysis.
4. I did not have to upgrade my symbol universe since I trade in Indian
stocks which are not part of the universe anyway. These are in
Metatstock and ASCII formats and tS2000i reads these files.
5. The software has many new features, like probability maps, activity
bars, and improved EasyLanguage. Over a period of time as we understand
these features, they are likely to be used more.
The 500 dollar question is : Should a TS 4 user upgrade ? Well, users
were satisfied with WIndows 3.11, yet most have eventually migrated to
WIn 95 or 98 or NT. A few years ago, 100 mhz pentium was the state of
the art. It is probably obsolete. So, the answer is, there is a
technological upgrade and tech users have no option but to move up on
the ladder. They have to upgrade, sooner or later.
