The database certainly doesn't seem to shrink when
the cleaner does its job, however I believe it reuses the deleted space for new
tests.
However, the most effective method, and probably
not condoned by Equis (I haven't asked them) is to shut Metastock, double-click
on the .mdb file (it's just an MS-Access database) then run the Tools/Compress
function. Works a treat, but please make sure you take a backup first in
case I'm giving you poor advice.
Cheers

st_data.mdbb file in Metastock 8
I have had this problem and then the system tester crashed
as well. I didget some good responses from support that fixed the
problem though.I suspect that you also can sometimes not discard because
you get thefollowing error?"A fatal error occurred attempting to
discard a result"Description:Code = 80004005Code meaning =
Unspecified errorSource = Microsoft JET Database EngineDescription =
File sharing lock count exceeded. Increase MaxLocksPerFileregistry
entry.Build: 8.0File: ST_DBUtility.cppLine: 890Error Type:
0Error Code: 2If so, let me know and I will tell you how to
fix your problems. The bottom line though is that you need to
constantly clean the results. Also you should probably run most of your
tests with the "Quick test only"box checked. This does not save most
of the data. You will get results, but not the trade by trade
data. Works fine for me. Then when I get donewith what I am
doing I may run one more run with the box unchecked.
Alsousually I export the results to Excel and save them
there.----- Original Message ----- From: "stewardship1959"
