I don't know what i am doing wrong. 
I changed the custom format to mmm/yyyy and used the downloader - 
convert.
in options i used monthly.
i made sure first date was blank - it had   / /    still in there
it then came up with yellow triangle and 900 errors of warning 2074
which is: unable to convert numeric data.
the file only went back to 1930 - which is frustrating as i want to 
look at the great depression and the decade leading up to it.
I then tried putting first date 31/1/1900 - same result
