Lionel, you might try Sage. I used it a while back
and found it good. These days I use a set of spreadsheets for my accounting. I
just shove my trades in every day and reconcile with the brokers statement. The
other expenditure is straightforward.

  Quicken
  Quicken 2002 has
  caused me more headaches and lost time than all other software that I
  use.

  It is unstable,
  entries do not maintain their values. It operates like the Microsoft program
  that is/was used by the Dept of Energy that the Russians brought to our
  attention.  Apparently they continued to use pen and paper accounting
  until they were certain that the Microsoft program was validated. Earlier
  entries were changed without any indication of it, all our records that are
  used to audit fissile material are invalid and we may never be able to
  straighten out the records.

  I am having a
  similar experience with Quicken.
  <SPAN

  Can anyone
  recommend an alternative to Quicken and Microsoft Money that meets the
  following requirements:
  <SPAN
  class=561503820-17102002>
  1. sturdy and
  reliable, does not change entries or balances.
  <SPAN
  class=561503820-17102002>
  2. easy to use
  interface
  <SPAN
  class=561503820-17102002>
  3. Can read and
  transfer Quicken files.
  <SPAN
  class=561503820-17102002>
  4. Preferred if it
  can read Turbo Tax files.
  <SPAN
  class=561503820-17102002>
  This sounds like a
  difficult set of requirements.  After all we've only been writing
  commercial software for over 4 decades.
