I dicetionary using the latter on a regular basis. 
Have built mechanical swing trading systems using the former but don't find 'em 
as good as other mechanical systems I've developed.

  I think the problem here is that there are two 
  different definitions of "pivot point." One is the short-term high or low of 
  prices, and represents a "turning point" in short-term direction. The other 
  definition uses the "typical price" to determine short-term direction and to 
  define support and resistance. These two different "pivot point" definitions 
  don't refer to the same price phenomena.
   
  Question: Has anyone on this list made consistent 
  money using either of these definitions?

        future reference, a variable will only plot if you put the variable name 
        by itself in the formula, after the definition. If within the formula 
        follow it with a ";", if it is at the end then the ";" is not 
        necessary.

        point is a price array where the value(s) before and after are lower for 
        a high pivot point and the reverse for a low pivot

            is a MetaStock parameter. It is an average of the bar with a bias to 
            the close. It is not a formula for a PivotPoint.
