Ken,
If you are still lurking I would like to offer some constructive critisicm.
I've been in the systems and software development industry for the best part
of 30 years and IMO this date calculation problem illlustrates the lack of
proper communication bewteen the product supplier and its' users. Currently
when suggestions are sent to the official Equis address they generate a
standard polite response - there is no discussion or exchange of ideas.
Surely there should be an official forum where users can
submit ideas and suggestions and communicate (2 way) with the product
developers. An area for known issues would also prevent problems such as
this single precision floating point being raised repeatedly. Users should
be able to access discussions of all suggestions and add their own input.
Additionally Equis should be able to keep the users informed about what is
planned in forthcoming releases. This approach would benefit both Equis and
all users in producing a better product.
The Amibroker product has already been mentioned in the MS lists. If you
haven't already done so I would respectfully suggest you take a look their
web site to see how communciation and dialogue with the user base can be
conducted in a most professional manner, even by a very small company.
BTW I am intrigued to know how Equis communicates with "the overhwleming
number of our users who are not members of this list or any other". How do
these users voice their opinions or influence Equis product strategy?
