Your posting is a little unrealistic. Good
programmers BC, before the recent crash, were getting around $50 to $80 per
hour. I am not talking about what a payroll company might charge. With
the massive layoffs that have occurred, good programmers will accept lower
  hourly rates.

A wise manager will pay for any service what it is
worth to him. It may be minimum wage or lawyers rates. In your discussion, the
manager should delegate operating the software to a competent assistant.
The manager's job is to manage, not running time consuming computer programs.
If the manager is frittering his money away, his bills will catch up with him
  sooner or later.

People need programming. Programmers, expert in TA,
cost $250/hr. Business men, nowdays, don't want to pay that much to an
employee. They might pay that much for lunch, but not for someone who knows
more than they do about the nifty little charting co. they just bought.

    Add it up: $250/hr. x 2000 hrs/yr. is
$500,000. Now you are talking about what he has to pay to get into that
important country club his wife has selected for him.

What we think they need is a VP & general
manager for Equis who understands how to listen to important users give
expert consultaion advise, completely free of charge, on net boards, and e
    lists.

But,  life, evidently, isn't like this in
business, today; because to do this the VP - Gen Mgr. will have to hire two
new people: One, the programmer at $259/hr., and then another expert to
explain to him what it all means.

The boss adds all this up in his head before
cocktails and sees an extra expense of over $1,000,000 million a year, which
is what his new boat was going to cost - and frankly, just says no. No one,
certainly, as low on the totem pole as anyone at equis, who reads this, will
successfully challange him on this matter.

    Remains,

    MR

(it seems all the big data companies want to buy a software company, but
don't know how to manage it--just like Reuters). However, the price/value
with AIQ is much better; $79.95 per month for real time data and that
includes the price of their software. Reuters wants $64.95/month for data,
and $200/month plus for E-Signal and $1700 up front for the

        Mickey,

I have to agree with you that on the
information I have seen to date V7.2 release looks poor value. After
reading the Equis PR release it was not clear to me what exactly was new
or improved from V7.03. I therefore emailed Equis support yesterday
        and asked specifically:-
        1. If System Tester now works across multiple
        selected securities simultaneously.
        2. If Internet integration feature is now fully
customisable by users (I am in UK so hard coded US site links are
        useless to me).
        3. Are the new 26 "Trading Systems" which are
included customisable by users or are they just closed black boxes like
many of the Experts shipped with Metastock.
        4. Have any improvements been made to formula
        language.
        5. Is there a comprehesive list of all the new
features and improvements in V7.2 from V7.03 (not just a Press
        Release).
When I get a reply will post info
        here.

IMO Equis seem to have lost their
direction since the takeover by Reuters. They certainly don't
appear to be listening to what existing Metastock users want (although
they must be aware becuase they monitor this board and the Yahoo Equis
board). I suspect Equis are under increasing commercial pressure
from competitors like AIQ who have made big inroads into the TA market.
It now seems Equis are attempting to milk their user base for
easy revenue with successive minor upgrade charges plus charging for
various black box plug-ins/add-ons. Personally I think the approach of
closed black boxes and protected Experts etc. is completelly at odds
with the reason most users buy Metastock i.e. to design, experiment
and test their own trading ideas. It also worries me that Equis has
found it necessary to go out to a 3rd party for these plug-ins etc. -
why didn't they do the development themselves?, what about the support
issues? Commercially Equis may be trying to make Metastock more
attractive to new users of TA software but this market is well saturated
already. I don't know why Equis don't just stick to the traditional
strengths of the MS product and concentrate on enhancing it by LISTENING
TO EXISTING USERS - then the product really would be great. I also
happen to use AIQ (no other connection other than user) and they
operate in almost complete contrast to Equis. They have an excellent
user group and beta test group plus the developers are
pro-active in encouraging input on new features required. The AIQ
product is not perfect (are they ever?) but they have made enormous
progress in the past 2 years by being open and really listening to what
user want and then making sure they have delivered it. Apologies if this
sounds like a plug for the AIQ product - it's not meant to be (MS
charting is better) - it's a plug for the way the AIQ company does
        things.

IMHO one thing is for sure - if Equis do not
wake up soon there is only one direction they will be going (it aint
up) and that would be very sad for all us MS users.

        John

          JOKE

I believe if you have your own
systems the new MS upgrade is just an other joke.  One thing
WOULD BE GREAT is the testing on multiple securities but wait before
you get too exited because I have the feeling this is only for those
new systems which they added.  So I believe it's better to by the
          add-on of Mr. DeBRY  <A
          href="http://www.debry.com/software_tools_and_services.htm       And">http://www.debry.com/software_tools_and_services.htm
And most probably those new systems will be password protected so
experienced traders who would like to implement some things are left
in the cold.  So I strongly belief apart those new systems
nothing is valuable. So people who don't have a GOOD system jet
to trade may have something with this.  But I believe most
experienced traders have already their system and style. So would this
suggests that MS is pointing too the NEW inexperienced traders and
letting the old experienced traders out to dry.  If this is the
case they should strongly change their adds in TASC and other
          magazines.

          Access the internet within
MetaStock, so you can view internet content side-by-side with your
MetaStock charts. Now you can access the internet
instantly from your chart&#8217;s shortcut menu and bring it right up on
your screen.  Plus, MetaStock 7.2&#8217;s new Web Resources
feature lets you set up links to your favorites web sites.  Then,
with the click of a mouse, MetaStock will access up-to-the-minute
information relating to your security, and display it next to your
          chart.
          <SPAN

          This is already possible
to add icons with WWW links in MS

           Make your trades
online within MetaStock, anytime, anywhere.  It&#8217;s never
be easier to trade online.  Because now you can choose the
location within MetaStock 7.2 that&#8217;s most convenient for you, with the
Online Trading toolbar.  MetaStock 7.2 works with Preferred Trade
and other web based trading sites.

Same thing I have already an icons
in MS so when I click on it I get to my order entry screen of my
          broker

          Refresh button is already
          there

Maybe for users who use Data on
demand there are some new features, but anyone knows the best
value/money services are QuotesPlus and TC2000 so I don't care about
this thing what they are trying to push us in using.

If I see all this I believe this
is not AT ALL made BY LISTENING TO THE REAL USERS, the traders.
And for this I like to ask the MS EOD USERS (not sales or tech
people of MS) on this list what you thing about all
          this.

          Greetings
