<BODY bgColor=#ffffff>
<DIV><FONT color=#000000 size=2>OK group. Since I am in agreement that I
would like to see more discussion of markets and trading coming my way, I am
going to try to make my own humble contribution. Firstly, I must tell you
that I am strictly bush league compared to Steve, Guy, and Jim G. who regularly
post to this group. Secondly, I'm not particularly original or creative in
designing trading systems and am content to copy ideas from others if they work
(I'm not proud). </FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT color=#000000 size=2></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT color=#000000 size=2>Because I only trade in equities, I take the
most interest in Jim G.'s post which I find very informative. I don't copy
Jim's trades because I've never taken the time to fully understand his
method. However, I do try to check out the companies he follows to
determine if they are a good fit for the system that I use. </FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT color=#000000 size=2></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2>The system that I use is a modified version of Walter Down's
Bull and Bear Fear system which he wrote about in the Aug. '98 (I think) issue
of TASC. I can't even really take credit for all of the modifications
since my usage of the Directional Movement indicator is a suggestion from Walter
which he graciously offered in some e-mail correspondence. If anyone is
interested in the details of the system, I'll happily discuss it with
you.</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT size=2>This is the list of companies I currently follow with the
system. There are many others that perform well, but these are the best
with the lowest average annual return (according to the metastock system tester)
at something more that 400%: AMD, AOL, DELL, CSCO, MSPG, CGMI (thanks Jim G.),
AEOS, BBY, EMC, and MU. The list is admittedly heavily weighted in tech
and internet stocks with a couple of retailers thrown in for good measure.
This bias may simply be the result of the pull these sectors have had in the
market in recent years and could well change when the market rotates into
another glamour sector. This is not to say that the system does not trade
well with other sectors, these are simply the cream that I've found to
date. If you want to try this system on other issues and find some outside
of these sectors, please let me know. Because, I am only a poor trader, I
only trade long positions, but the system can be used for short trades as
well. Also, I only have enough capital to maintain two open
positions simultaneously [but I'm working on more d8^)] .</FONT></DIV>
