First of all, when converting multiple securities from MetaStock to Excel
(or v.v.) you do not have to provide a Destination filename. MetaStock will
give the Excel-file (or any file) an abriviated (8 characters max) tickercode
for filename. Automaticaly.
It will also add the Periodicity character (eg D for daily data) to the filename
(on the 8th position) and I don't know why it does so, but it does.
However, providing a name will have the Convert Tool assume that you
want all the securities' data converted to that one(1) single Excel-file only.
Since the standard procedure for Excel-convert jobs (especialy when
converting any Historical data) to or from an Excel-file, is that this conversion
will also take place per one(1) security(=ticker) only, then it also explains why
your 4 securities were jammed(dumped) into the one(1) file, eg as it was
messing up this standard procedure.

See the standard conversion procedure explanation above for an Excel-file
to succesfully convert to MetaStock (or v.v. from MetaStock to Excel), when
using Historical data, eg "One security per file only".
Should you wish to convert only one(1) single days' data, eg where the (field)
column for the dates down, only holds one single day for the entire date-column,
only then you are allowed to use multiple securities/tickers.
Also make sure to save the Excel-file in the very old Excel 4.0 file format
(the from 1994 stemming - single worksheet only - format).
See further the online Help or also the DL-manual p72-73.
