No need to start firing your scuds!!

>I thought it was the Standard Oil that was broken up, not Ford.
>Ford did not become a large company till sometimes after 1913 and it always
>had tons of competition.
You most probably are right. And what I can remember from reading up on this, it
did not have a very good impact on the Industry+country development, then, in general.
Knew it had something to do in the Automobile-sector. And (now) if I'm not
mistaken, Ford+car Industry in general, run into problems during/after world-war
(1 or/and 2 ?) when the mass-produced 'conviscated for war-reasons' production-lines,
set up on Gov's orders, were stopped and became unemployed.
Fords' competition is also present because there where already plenty of car-manufacturers
around the globe, who invented and were making the same kind of products, and as most
were, at first, better in quality(do not send any more scuds, will you?) and cost-effective
(less petrol usage/more mileage for the 'high' petrol-buck), and eventualy, also were
cheaper in price.
Unlike what we see in the computer-Industry, where Microsoft is one of the few
manufacturers very hard developing OS's + its additionals. Things people(home+offices)
and computers badly needed and demanded. And not very expensive either, in fact very
cheaply priced(hardware is more "dearer"). Thus all to our advantage.

>Your knowledge of American economic history is somewhat suspect.
No, my knowledge is not "suspect", just not(only far from) perfect as I haven't
devoded a life-time history-study on these subjects........
And when fastly 'writing' + typing these mails, the occaissional mistakes(blunders? from
not researching enough as I haven't got the time to do so) creep in to them.
Please forgive my oh-so-pressious errors.

>Do you really believe that Apple, Unix and Dos were failures?
In the sence of my previous mail, YES, as they all haven't been to any of the advantage
in both general and domestic use; not at home, not in TA and not on the Internet
(Note: in general !!! not for some particulars).

>Most of the publishing industry along with designers and the entertainment industry
>uses Apple products.
Again, I haven't done thourough studies as to such, wich would take up too much time,
but do know from the amount of companies I have visit or futher "know", they have or
are changing over to Windows(AutoCAD-Computer Aided Design).

>Almost all airlines and major business applications are for Unix.
This could be true, if so, they are known for their safety, however and in the context
of my previous mail, they are not a GENERAL operating system, mere part of
an industry-sector, and not to any advantage of (my) our domestic home+TA etc. use.

>Dos is still a very prominent systems in the local banks and hospitals I know about.

This also could be true, but again(see above) change is ON to Windows environment.
Do find out how many are already using/changing over to MSOffice97.
And as one of Windows' basics is DOS7, any transition will be the least complicated
for them and also most COSTS-EFFECTIVE.

>".....(Most of our "governments" do not DAILY use a computer, let alone
>> know how to run one !).... Did my browser get this one correct?
Yes, it did so. Again in the context of my previous mail, I refer to the "desision' makers
at the top, not the (plenty of) floor-monkeys.

>Perhaps YOUR government is not computer functional. My city, parish(county),
>state, and federal government is very computer dependent. Not on Windows,
>though.
Most likely on DOS/UNIX(see above). When did they do their last investment?
Early 90's where DOS-days, mid 90's are Windows-days. What choice will their new
investments turn out to be?

>Enough. No response is necessary, Mr. Maas.
No need posting anything to the List, is there?

>Let's focus on stock charts, the Japanese election and the US Dollar.
And not the DM?
Couple of coming weeks will see a major change in the financial markets,
mostly due to Japans' election. It will be "very" Up(Japans' LDP will win) or "total"
collapse(the oppositition wins) of this trends' momentum(both Yen+Asia currencies &
Stocks in general). Up-momentum wich is now present around the major financial
western industrialised world-markets(both in stocks and valuta).
As far as common sence and from the latest news the first is the better "positioned".
Though, this is no indication as to any outcome, as Japan has been strugling since
1990(reflected on the stock-index) and for centuries with the open-market and
accompanying financial market struggles(reflected by their "ones employed always
employed" way of labour-system and their "nationalistic/patriotic" kamikaze-business
protection laws form way back in the Samurai-days(Golden 17-18th centuries and beyond).

I have to point out that my 'daily' focus in general goes beyond 'daily' and 'news only'.
Measuring (any) trend(s) developing/ments by/on Indexes + (counter) confirmations
is one of them. For this I refer to other of my latter mailings to the List.

Thanks for the responses,
Regards,
Ton Maas
