Ron,
Your email didn't mention if the internet data you receive consists of
more than the 55 securities you intend to use in "DJ30" and "Magic25"
but I'll assume you receive data on more than 55 securities.
Sounds to me like you need to start from scratch again, the first
objective being to convert the data you receive to Metastock format. The
second objective then is to organise the securities into the folders you
want. Try this and see if it works with your internet data:
1.Create a folder under "Equis" and say, name it "Stocks". Then go
through the convert procedure and make Equis\Stocks your destination
folder.
2.Go into OPTIONS, DESTINATION and tick as per previously but don't tick
"traverse destination folders".
Hopefully this will convert ALL the data you receive to Metastock format
however many files that may be.
3.If this has worked you can now create in Explorer two new folders
under "Equis" being "DJ30" and "Magic25".
4(a)Go back to the Downloader and copy from "Stocks" to "DJ30" the 30
files you want. 4(b) Then copy from "Stocks" to "Magic25" the 25 files
you want. This will establish the folders and files for future
conversions.
5. When you come to convert the next day's data and subsequent days do
it in two runs. The first run use destination folder "Equis\DJ30" and
the second run use destination folder "Equis\Magic25". With both runs
CREATE NEW FILES and TRAVERSE DESTINATION FOLDERS should be unticked.
The Downloader will show errors but these errors are unimportant as they
will only be errors of files which have not been copied into each
applicable folder and so don't matter. The files you previously copied
into the two folders should accept the new data and append it to each
file.
If this has worked for you this is then the procedure you need to carry
out each day. The original folder and data in "Stocks" can be deleted if
desired.
I hope this helps as it works for me.
Good Luck....Ian Burgoyne, Melbourne
