I guess I'll chime in although maybe this is a boring answer. :)
My system is a medium term long only system. By the end of August, I
was 50% in cash and by the end of September I was 100% in cash which
is still where I am today. Given the charts, I think I will probably
be in cash for quite a while longer. Performance hasn't been good as
I've experienced a large drawdown of over 30% which has taken me into
the red for the year. I guess the good news is that I'm outperforming
my benchmark index. :/
In the meantime, I have been working on a trend following system that
trades leveraged ETFs. Results have been decent in testing but I need
more time to "get a feel" for the system. Plus after this good run
(if you are playing the short trend), I fear starting to trade the
system and experiencing the whipsaw that may follow.
