Vista 64 is fine. I had my doubts about Vista given all that I have
heard.

Memory is cheap and if your system has enough and is new, Vista is
fast. It will boot up fast and do a good job of pre fetching data.

For Ami broker use, my old 32bit Win XP with 4GB ram would only see
about 3.5GB of ram. It would cache the entire data set, but the
first pass through the data would be very slow while it loaded from
disk.

On 64bit Vista, it sees the full 4GB and there is no disk delay even
on the first pass. Also, it can use a flash drive as a disk cache.

The only problem with Vista is that it naggs a lot. I had to turn
off some of the security.

I think it is fine for data modeling, better than XP.
