Patrick - Thanks again. Have no fear, I
did not trade on yesterdays scan. I'm hunkered down in this foxhole in
Houston and
not going to lift up my head just yet,
although this morning promises a better outlook @ + ~50 in DJI
futures
fair value. That is until the
automated programs start to pound it down. VBG.. I have a hard
time converting from
being an investor, read "long" person,
to taking the opposite position. I have a lot to learn and it
doesn't really suit
my disposition. I'm looking at
folioFN or gurufolios.
On automated trading - I know there's cadre
on this forum that's working with automated training on AB, but what about this.
Did you see a 4/16/06 WSJ article on the use of supercomputers in trading? Here's a paragraph.
Supercomputers Speed Up
Game
"Today, computers can spot and capitalize on
tiny price discrepancies in milliseconds, such as a difference between a stock
listed on two exchanges separated by an ocean. Banks, hedge funds and other big
investors have direct feeds to exchanges that bypass brokers and let them trade
much more easily and often."
Seems that global mergers like NYSE and
Euronext will reduce the differences c'ne pas?
Thanks for the information on Conners/Cooper.
I'll probably follow up on that, although have not been able to home
in
on the particular package at Trader's
Press. Will try eBay also.
Was wondering how you thought these
setups would backtest?
Thanks again for your generous
support.
In gratitude
Joe

(corrected)
Hi Joe,
You sang my praises too soon. I've discovered that in piecing
together the code to distribute, I grabbed some include files which conflict
with the other variables set in the scan. Consequently, the watchlist
management and/or other parameter choices don't function as they
should. Attached is a corrected (and hopefully correct) AA for the 123
and 1234 setups -- I made this one selectable to include the snippets I posted
earlier.
Apologies to all for the mess up. Hope this gets there before
too many waste too much time on my error. Just trash the AA from last
night.

Good morning Patrick....Hope things have
settled down for you in the NW. Seems like you're on the board a bit
more than
in the past
months.
Your 1-2-3-4 script is a fine piece of
work and promises to yield good results.
I've just ran it against my
~3200 stock "universe" and I must say the 73 issues that result in the screen look very
promising.
Would you point me to the underlying method
by Conners and Cooper?
Best regards
Joe

Hi Lal,
If you are referring to Larry Connors and Jeff Cooper's 1-2-3-4 See
the attached for a long version of the setup as a 1-2-3. I leave it
to you to code a short version and post it -- OK?
This code has a few of my tweaks for parameters that I've found
helpful to modify, buy it is set to default as a pure 1-2-3. It
will also allow you to send the results to a watchlist for tracking -- it
is one of the setups I regularly use (tho not with the settings originally
described by Connors and Cooper).
Enjoy.

Hello,
Has anyone coded 1-2-3 Buy and Sell setups
in Amibroker and is willing to share the
code?
Thanks, Lal
