TJ does have an extremely effective method of eliminating spam. I would hope that he continues that, but I think that our anti-virus software is capable of doing the job for attachments. Mine is.

Hi TJ / All,
Just felt the urge to add my 2 cents because I agree with Herman and Corey
on both points:
1. Re trimming messages - I know that some people have problems with long
messages, but I would suggest that, at least where people are posting
code/formulas for someone, please leave the original request intact so we
can tell what the code is for without having to track down the original
e-mail.
2. I miss the attachments also. On the one hand, I understand TJ's desire to
maintain a high-quality list that people feel safe about joining. On the
other hand, we are missing out on a major component of the list which, to my
mind at least, is far superior to going to the boards all the time. After
weighing the pro's and con's, it seems to me that the attachments should be
turned back on. It does seem hard to believe there are still people out
there that are not aware of the dangers, or still refuse to use a quality
anti-virus product (there are even free ones out there!). At the risk of
sounding harsh, it is probably time they learned one way or the other.
People also have the option of not opening *any* attachment from this group
if they so choose, while those who protect their computer responsibly and
wish to assume the risk would be able to do so.
TJ, do you think we could try the attachments again at some point? I'm sure
no one wants to stick you with monitoring every individual e-mail, but
perhaps the people who are targeting this list will eventually move on to
something more constructive, or at least find another target. Thanks for
listening!
Steve
