I half agree with this and do understand where you are coming from,
BUT if the newbie has gained enough confidence to post a question
on this board then usually they have made some effort to solve their
problem. Often it is just a simple thing that they cant see their way
around after spending hours reading the manual and playing.
It can get frustrating at times for certain users because they see
things very differently than you and I and they can need extra help.
I think that if you dont want to answer a question then just leave it,
someone else will, otherwise it can have the effect of intimidating new
users from ever posting.
