ED you are correct that installers do write info
to the system ... I don't beleive it's necessary, but you probably should
re-install.
All your data files however will be Ok... don't
need to re-create.

Ara,
thanks for your reply.
About your 2-nd suggestion, <FONT
face=Arial size=2>"Alternately, just back up everything, Install new system
and then bring back all your stuff"
Is it not necessary to run the install of
Amibroker, QP2 and IQFeed again? I mean I assume I can not just copy the
"Program Files" directory on another computer and put its contents back
once the new operating system is put on. Or can I? I thought these
installers write files to Windows system directories,
thanks, Rdgs, Ed

Ed,
If you have a disk that is large enough to
partition, say at least 50GB, then partition your disk and move everything
on to partition 2, then install OS on partition 1.
Suggest backing up everything.
You will need some partitioning software ...
Microsoft does not provide this.
Alternately, just back up everything, Install
new system and then bring back all your stuff.
Strongly suggest on new system you partition
disk no matter which way you go. This will give you a lot of extra
protection

Subject: [amibroker] New operating
system
hi,
I'm sure this has already been discussed
but I couldn't find it.
I want to put Windows XP on a W2000
computer. On another computer upgrading did not work very well. Computer
crashed constantly. So now I want to do a fresh install.
How could I do this best. My Amibroker, QP2
and IQFeed stuff is on that computer. Obviously I'd like to put it on
another computer temporarily and put is back once XP is installed.
Any suggestions how best to do
this?
thanks,
rgds, Ed

Maintaining EOD and RT databases

switch databases. Works fine for me and I get none of the corruption

to file/database and switch. I can switch my EOD database from QP to

periodicity on your EOD QP data??

<SPAN

<SPAN

There must
be a simple solution to my problem but for two days now I am just
messing around to get things going. Perhaps someone can help me
along...<SPAN
class=375011514-18032004>I maintain two databases: QP2 EOD and eSignal
RT and <SPAN
class=375011514-18032004>I would like to start up Amibroker from
two icons on my desktop: one for the RT setup and one for the EOD
setup.
<SPAN
class=375011514-18032004>
For some
reason my EOD QQQ data gets corrupted each time as eSignal starts
adding RT to my EOD data and the charts. I delete the QQQ and create a
new symbol, have to shut down AB, restart it and then the data is
backfilled. Any other way the QQQ starts filling at todays date. Is it
possible to create two icons for AmiBroker that will start each
version up with the proper DB selection and Settings? It seems that I
cannot switch on the fly from one to the other.
<SPAN
class=375011514-18032004>
Can some
body outline the proper steps to work with two databases without
conflicts?
