Hi LHoward –
I use a cell phone to connect my laptop to
the internet also. Upload and download speed are (inversely) related to
other cell phone traffic through the equipment (particularly the cell tower) being
used. At good times, my speeds are above 250KB; at bad times, they are as
low as 30KB. Your computer configuration probably has very little to do
with your download speed.

Sorry for the "off topic" but hopefully someone will have an
answer. When browsing the web or downloading data the download speed
drops drastically and then stops. I use the sprint pcs system via cell
phone. Are there any cache or memory allotment changes that will
help? (1.5 gig ram, 40 gig hard drive, amd athalon 1.800+) (web
page history etc. cleaned regularly).
