You are not alone.  I too have had this issue, and it is indeed 
maddening.  It wasn't always like this;  this behaviour appeared 
after one of the new beta's.  I reported it at the time, but never 
got a reply from anyone, so I've just been living with it, and trying 
to be more careful.  

So, while I can't help solve this, I can at least validate that it 
isn't just you.
