Hi m,

Most "user-friendly" proprietary programming languages are eventually
dead-end tools. You better spend your time learning "standard" programming
languages for which there is unlimited support on the Internet. Amibroker's
AFL is powerful but for the advanced user it also supports VB/J/C++.

You are right of course in that each TA language has a learning curve and
that some are steeper than others. I have used a number of other TA programs
(including MetaStock Pro for a number of years). Amibroker is no different
then the others: to get the most out of it you will have to do some
learning.

My reasons for sticking with Amibroker are:

1) The product is growing at an unbelievable rate and lots of user
suggestions are implemented. Technical support is A+++, just browse this
list for support posts by Tomasz Janeczko.

2) If you want you can use Visual Basic, Java scripts and C++. These are
standard languages used all over the world. This means you are NOT limited
by a dead-end proprietary language. Whatever you learn will remain valuable
and can be build on for many years to come. There are many examples on the
net an in the docs.

3) I am stuck with AmiBroker because while I could translate my formulae
from MetaStock to Amibroker I cannot do the reverse: MS just doesn't have
the power. None of my current systems can be coded in MetaStock and I hardly
use it anymore (I use EOD).

4) AmiBroker is very reasonably priced. It is interesting to note that many
of us can bear to loose a few thousand in a trade but choke when buying a
<$100 computer program that can prevent such losses.

Good luck,
Herman.
