Mark, it has been a few years, but I quite remember Omega Research proudly mentioning that TS had be written expressly to take advantage of dual processors. It was written down on a recommended hardware list at one time.
These days a basic dual core processor that would have been a dream come true when TS was written is, amazingly, under $100, though the quads are 2-3 times that and up. I only run Windows XP, TS 2000i, IB Trader's Workstation, and MetaServer RT on my trading box, so it's hardly challenged even now, but I did wonder about spending the extra $ next time I upgrade for quad over dual. Perhaps having Windows, GlobalServer, and TradeStation on seperate processors, with one left over for anti-virus scans, internet, etc. would be worth it.
