Re: [RT] Work Station-standing

One of the healthiest overall postures too maintain for hours on end ...is
squatting ..ie hunkering on your heels ..(early/prehistoric man style).
Early man would hunker on his heels for hours sitting around the campfire
..& this is one of the most natural positions for man ..when not standing &
is healthier than sitting (imo)
This position is good for internal organ health & alignment , ..good for
spine & it helps stretch, strengthen & tone various large muscle groups in
the body ..including legs/thighs ..upper lower back & buttocks etc &
develops sense of balance.. ...

It may be difficult to squat with a conventional desk setup though ..as
your knees may be too high under your desk,
It is also easier to do initially if you hunker with your heels higher
than toes initially (ie place a 1.0 - 1.25 inch thick block or similar
under your heels to raise them..although squatting with your feet flat on a
horizontal surface is best overall & stretches muscles & etc to best effect
albeit this flat footed posture is more difficult to maintain comfortably
for any reasonable period ..I find)..
You need a sturdy low stool or even a heavy milk crate or whatever of
suitable height to "hunker" on...I have just started doing this again for
maybe half an hour a day atm while at the computer...

If nothing else ..it gives the body some respite from a constant seated
posture..fwiw
