Have you been able to determine why your Earthlink connection drops off? I
have used it for several years now with 56kdialup and found it to be
rocksolid with a US Robotics external modem. I've had 4 other ISP's in the
last 5 years and Earthlink is by far the best of those. If you are too far
from the telco switch and have a marginal phone line, then the V.90
autosampling for signal quality may be shifting your baudrate unknowingly to
you and eventually losing connection. I used to live in the foothills of
the Sierras near Lake Tahoe and the wind and rain would degrade the phone
quality to the point of uselessness, I was 19 miles from a switch, over old
phone lines in hilly terrain. If you are using an internal modem, you might
want to switch to an external one. Another suggestion is to contact
Earthlink and request assistance in diagnosing the connection problems.
