The other thing to remember on the NYSE is that size takes precedent.  So if you
are looking to buy 500 or 1000 shares the big boys get filled first and if
everything is gone when they get down to you, so be it.  In the case of the
Nasdaq, if and when they answer the phone you could get a fill.
