Correct you appear to be. I overlooked Evangeline Adams, sorry.
In Morgan's day, the issue of a billionaire was so far fetched that
the concept made me think that it had to be a Pierpoint joke. He did
die with very little vis-a-vie the popular myth. As I recall, it was
about 68 million dollars. Andrew Carnegie, I believe, remarked
".....and to think he was not a rich man".
Still seems hard to believe (about the quote) but with the evidence of
Adams I'll grant you that he may indeed have been serious.
Those notes may have been called perpetuals, I do not know offhand.
His son, Jack, was born with a horoscope showing a cardinal cross, I
understand, which I'm told is associated with depressions.
