My wife and I were driving and saw at intersection a sad looking women
standing with her daughter (about 10 years old) with a sign: "Starving!
Will work for food". We stop and after a long persuasion get the women and
her daughter into our car and drive her to the supermarket and bought them
as much food as they wanted (for about $150). Then we offered to drive the
lady and the food to any place she wanted. Here we faced a stiff
resistance, the lady did not want us to drive her anywhere. Eventually
common sense prevail, as lady could not carry all the food she had. We
drove her to the motel where she was staing. The local church rented the
room for her. But the lady still was living in the car, as the motel room
was completely filled with food, clothe and other donations. What model was
the car she had I do not remember.
But I do remember Senator Kennedy commission on hunger in America. They
spend about 10 years and several million taxpayer's dollars to find the
hungry and were forced to close the commission without finding a singe
precedent of hunger. (That does not mean that hunger in America do not
exist, simple they could not find it).
