RT's;
I took six private one hour phone sessions with Ruth in the fall of 98 for
$1,250. I was having problems pulling the trigger daytrading the S&P's.
She had me do a lot of visualization and NLP techniques. Most of the
exercises dealt with "parts negiociation". I consider myself very
knowledgable and well read on NLP. I felt like I knew what I needed to do
but was just looking for someone to guide me through various NLP techniques.
Ruth was very nice and I enjoyed our sessions together. My trading results
did slightly improve after our sessions.
My compliant about Ruth was this: In session three she had me perform a
parts negociation exercise that lasted about 1/2 hour. The next week, in
session four, she had me do it again. When she started repeating the same
exercise I told her we had done it the previous week. Her response was,
'that's ok we need to do this one again'. Okay, fine she's the Doctor.
Then in week five she started doing the same exercise for the 3rd time! At
$200+ an hour at least I expected some technique creativity on her part.
Honestly, I felt it was the least effective of all the exercises she had me
perform. I informed her this was the third week in a row that we had done
this same exercise! At that point she stuttered and I heard her frantically
flipping through her notes. With suprise in her voice she said , "I had you
do this two weeks in a row?" Obviously she was poorly prepared and spent
little time reviewing our prior sessions before spending her $200.
At that point I guess I should have confronted her and told her that I
wanted extra time to make up for her poor session planning. Instead, I
didn't say anything about my dissatisfaction and just used my consumer vote
and didn't buy anymore sessions with her.
I haven't read her book but intend to. Also, she sent me relaxational
(self-hypnosis) audio tapes that I really enjoy and feel help keep me
focused on following my rules.
She also does trader interviews. The interview she did with Realtrader Ray
Barros has saved me a lot of money on position trades. In the interview he
said if your entry day bar doesn't do what you expected (i.e. move in your
favor or reverse near the close) then get out. Last weeks Soybean and
SoyMeal breakout were perfect examples of this. The breakouts weren't that
strong and then there were reversal bars the day after the breakouts and I
exited with a small profit in Beans and breakeven in the Soymeal before they
tanked. Previously I would have let my original stop take me out of the
trade.
Hope this helps,
Howard
