[RT] Re: What is the best way for a trader to wire his house

Glad you asked this question. Today my wife and I met with our builder to
lay out our "dream house." I'm an active trader but not a day trader.
However I have to plan out the computer network and phone situation. Since
we are out in the country there is a question as to when we will get a phone
line strung to our site. We may have to operate via cell phone for several
months. I currently use only my cell phone for my trading orders. I will
look into an outside phone antenna.

The electric power line cost a small fortune to run, but fortunately we had
five lot owners to share that cost. One lot owner, who will also be
building this year, does a lot of telecommuting so she is interested in
getting the phone company to run fiber or a high speed (ISDN) line to our
neighborhood.

I have three computers tied together with a 100 MHz Ethernet network. I
plan to wire several rooms with RJ-45 network outlets. I like to move about
the house with my laptop and print to a remote computer/printer.

I need to look into the TV dish satellite situation, especially the dual
mode units. TV does not play a role in my trading. I make a point to never
watch CNBC during the trading day. I found that it negatively detracts from
my trading system.

Anyway, I too need to get on the ball and plan out all this stuff.

Marlowe
