I thought I would throw my 2 cents in on DTN. I've been using DTN for about
3 years now. I've had very good support from both the sales "guy" who wrote
my contract and their technical support staff. I've seen two problems in
that time. DTN occasionally has changed some portion of their data feed
software without full coordination with my software vendor, WOW. The result
was a lack of access to real time quotes for about 1 week. WOW has sent me
patches on two occasions to fix what they said were DTN data feed changes.
Like one other person said from this group the fingers pointed at each other.
The second thing that happened is that the options feed from DTN was
mistakenly stopped for me by them without my knowledge. I was on the road
overseas so did not catch it till I got back about 2 months later. I called
them and was told it was my problem for not catching it right away and that
my money nor credit would be given. I have a rule for myself that I don't
trade options when I'm on the road since I have no access to real time data
nor my indicators.
I have had 3 new boxes from DTN, two died within the first 3 months of
operation. They are improving their data feed but as a result they are also
adding $20/month starting in July.
I am also looking for a solution for when I travel. Last year I used a
satelite phone and the internet with mild success while in the Amazon. But
those are the conditions I'm looking for real time access under. Any
constructive comments or suggestions from this group would be welcome.
